Are you a resident of the West Coast and have a passion for improving ocean safety on Tofino’s beaches?

Interested in joining us?  Please read this information about what we do, to help you decide if this club is for you:

Our club is affiliated with The Lifesaving Society of BC.  We are an ocean based lifesaving club (very different to pool life saving).  We are not a “swim club” and we are not a “surf club”.  However, swimming and surfing are an integral part of what we do.

Ocean sessions are the backbone of our club.  In these you will learn the multidisciplinary skills of being an ocean lifesaver, including ocean swimming, board paddling, rescue techniques, communication and teamwork. There are also skill building opportunities in first aid and CPR, as well as training in understanding tides and ocean conditions. You will also train to compete in the sport of surf life saving. On occasion, the weather or sea conditions may prevent the ocean session from happening, but we will always try to do alternative beachside activities.

For our opening 2025 season we are targeting members who have ocean surf experience. All members will need to have their own wetsuit as many of our practices will be outdoor based. As capacity builds, we look forward to recruiting more novice members as well as a youth (Pups) chapter.

We are a fun and very active club, offering something different to the norm.
